This flood coat needs more than one mix. Keep each batch at or below 3 US gal and follow the product instructions.

Start with the horizontal surface you will coat. For a rectangular top, enter length and width. For an L-shaped counter or several sections, add the coated areas and subtract cutouts, then use Total area.
Plan a flood coat, seal coat and edges
The calculator uses POURLA‘s planning coverage of 12.5 sq ft per mixed gallon for one 1/8-inch flood coat. The optional seal coat adds 1 US fl oz per sq ft. The edge setting adds 15% of the flood-coat material.
72 × 24 in → 1.20 US gal
Seal coat + edges: 2 × 1-gallon kits
That 12 sq ft example uses 122.88 fl oz for the flood coat, 12 fl oz for the seal coat and 18.43 fl oz for edges. Actual use varies with the surface and application.
Calculation & assumptions
One US gallon is 128 US fluid ounces. Flood-coat volume is area ÷ 12.5. Seal-coat material and edge allowance are added separately; the edge allowance is not applied to the seal coat. Kit quantities use the unrounded result. Vertical backsplashes and additional flood coats are separate estimates.
POURLA countertop specifications
| Property | Specification |
|---|---|
| Mix ratio | 1A : 1B by liquid volume |
| Flood-coat coverage | 12.5 sq ft per mixed US gal |
| Maximum coat thickness | 1/8 in / 3.175 mm |
| Kit sizes | 64 US fl oz / 1 US gal |
| Working time | 20–35 minutes at 77°F / 25°C |
| Maximum mix size | 3 US gal at a time |
These are product planning values. Follow the current TDS for surface preparation, mixing, recoating and curing.
Read the technical data sheet ↗Surface coating or a deep casting?
This estimate is for a surface coating, up to 1/8 inch per coat. Filling a thick river-table channel or casting mold needs a volume calculation and the appropriate resin. Use the deep pour calculator to plan that material separately.
Countertop epoxy calculator FAQ
How do I measure an L-shaped countertop?
Divide the horizontal top into rectangles that do not overlap, add their areas, and subtract sink or other uncoated cutouts. Enter the result in Total area. Using the longest overall length and width can count space that is not part of the counter.
When should I include a seal coat?
A seal coat is recommended for porous materials such as bare wood or concrete. Select Seal coat to add 1 US fl oz per sq ft to the estimate. Clear it if the surface is already appropriately sealed and does not need another seal coat.
What does the edge option add?
Edges & runoff adds a planning allowance equal to 15% of the flood-coat material. It does not measure the vertical edge area and is not added to the seal-coat quantity. Tall edges, backsplashes or unusual shapes may need a separate estimate.
Does the estimate include resin and hardener?
Yes. The estimated volume is the combined amount of Part A and Part B. POURLA Countertop Epoxy uses equal parts by liquid volume. Use the product‘s stated weight ratio if measuring by weight; fluid ounces are a volume measurement.
How are the recommended kits calculated?
Choose either the 64-US-fl-oz kit, which contains half a mixed US gallon, or the 1-US-gallon kit. The calculator divides the unrounded material estimate by that size and rounds up. Select the same size and quantity on the product page.
Can I use this for a thick river table pour?
This calculator estimates one surface flood coat at 1/8 inch, with optional seal-coat and edge material. It does not calculate a deep cavity. Use the deep pour calculator for a thick resin-filled channel or mold, and follow that resin‘s pouring limits.
