Pourla Floor System

Polyaspartic Top Coat

POURLA UltraShield is a two-component, 100% solids clear top coat designed as the final wear layer over compatible epoxy flake, metallic, solid-color and decorative concrete floor systems. Its UV-stable, fast-curing formula helps maintain clarity while adding a smooth, high-gloss protective finish indoors or outdoors.

UltraShield is primarily a final clear protective layer. Bare concrete should be properly prepared and primed before the decorative or base-coat system is installed.

Why Choose UltraShield

Fast return to service without hiding the floor design below

The clear top coat is designed to enhance a compatible decorative system while helping protect it from sunlight exposure, heated tires, common spills and everyday wear.

Swipe cards→

UV-Stable Clear Finish

Helps resist yellowing and maintain a clear, high-gloss appearance under sunlight exposure in compatible indoor and outdoor floor systems.

Fast Return to Service

Initial cure is approximately 5–7 hours, with full cure typically reached in approximately 24–48 hours at 77°F.

Hot-Tire Resistance

Creates a durable final wear layer that helps reduce lifting and pickup caused by heated vehicle tires after the coating has fully cured.

Chemical & Abrasion Resistance

Helps protect the finished floor from common spills, cleaners, daily traffic and surface wear when the complete system is correctly installed.

Smooth High-Gloss Appearance

Enhances decorative flakes, metallic effects, solid colors and stained concrete without obscuring the floor design underneath.

100% Solids, Low-Odor Formula

A high-solids professional coating designed for a durable finish with lower odor during application than many traditional solvent-heavy systems.

Coverage Per 2-Gallon Kit

Texture changes coverage—plan for the floor you actually have

Decorative flake floors require more material to bridge the texture. Smooth metallic and solid-color surfaces generally spread farther.

Estimate the number of kits

Choose the underlying floor profile, enter the total project area and use the conservative recommendation to help prevent mid-application shortages.

Decorative Flake Floor 240–360 sq. ft. Approximate coverage per complete 2-gallon kit
Kit contents1 gallon Part A + 1 gallon Part B
Mix ratio1 part A to 1 part B by weight
Enter the project area to calculate an estimated kit range. Purchase enough material to complete each planned section without interruption.

Coverage is an estimate, not a guarantee. Surface texture, porosity, application method, coating thickness and transfer loss change actual usage.

Build the Correct Floor System

The top coat performs best when the layers below it are sound and compatible

UltraShield is designed primarily as the final clear protective layer. It does not replace concrete profiling, moisture evaluation, primer or a compatible decorative base coat.

Do not treat UltraShield as a direct-to-bare-concrete shortcut. Prepare the slab and install a compatible epoxy primer first when building a new floor system.
01
Prepared Concrete Slab

Clean, dry, mechanically profiled and evaluated for moisture

02
Compatible Epoxy Primer

Seals the slab and creates a more consistent bonding surface

Can Polyaspartic Be Applied Over Epoxy?

Yes—when the epoxy is clean, sound and correctly prepared

A compatible polyaspartic top coat can be applied over an epoxy base or decorative coating. The preparation method depends on whether the epoxy remains inside its recoat window or has fully cured.

  • Confirm the epoxy is structurally sound, clean, dry and free from oils, wax, dust and other contaminants
  • Apply within the compatible product's published recoat window whenever possible
  • If the coating has fully cured, mechanically abrade the surface to create a uniform dull profile before recoating
  • Vacuum thoroughly and complete the final cleaning step specified in the current Technical Data Sheet
Important Mixing Rule

Use a digital scale: 1A : 1B by weight

The current Technical Data Sheet specifies equal parts Part A and Part B by weight. Measure accurately in a clean container and do not estimate the ratio.

  • Mix thoroughly for 3–5 minutes
  • Scrape the sides and bottom repeatedly
  • Avoid whipping air into the mixture
  • Only mix what the crew can place promptly
Designed for Multiple Floor Systems

One clear top coat for compatible residential, commercial and exterior systems

Every project still requires the correct substrate preparation, primer, base coat, slip-resistance plan and application method for its use conditions.

How to Apply

Plan the crew and the floor before Part A meets Part B

Polyaspartic cures faster than traditional epoxy. Complete all preparation, stage the tools and define the exit path before mixing the first batch.

Swipe steps→

Prepare the compatible base

Confirm the base coat is clean, dry and ready for recoating. Sand fully cured coatings when required, then remove all dust and contaminants.

Before Mixing

Weigh equal parts

Use a digital scale to combine 1 part Part A with 1 part Part B by weight in a clean, smooth-sided container.

1A : 1B by Weight

Mix for 3–5 minutes

Mix slowly until completely uniform. Scrape the sides and bottom repeatedly and avoid whipping air into the batch.

Mix Thoroughly

Work in planned sections

Published working time is approximately 30–50 minutes at 77°F, but plan to place each batch promptly and maintain a wet edge.

Keep a Wet Edge

Distribute and cross-roll

Apply evenly with a lint-free roller using the method in the current instructions. Avoid puddling, excessive rolling and overly thick application.

Uniform Coverage

Protect the cure

Keep dust, moisture and traffic away during curing. Wait approximately 48 hours before vehicle traffic, allowing more time when conditions slow the cure.

Plan Downtime
Recommended environmentApply in a clean, dry, dust-free space around 65–75°F (18–24°C) for best results.
Batch controlDo not mix more than the crew can apply promptly. The TDS advises limiting batches to about one gallon unless experienced.
Wet-edge planningFor large areas, assign separate mixing, distributing and rolling roles to reduce lap lines and roller marks.
Cure & Return-to-Service Planning

Fast curing still requires protected downtime

Published times assume approximately 77°F. Temperature, humidity, batch size, airflow and application thickness can change working and cure times.

30–50 Min.Published working time at 77°F. Place each batch promptly.
5–7 HoursApproximate initial cure / walk-on planning time at 77°F.
24–48 HoursApproximate full cure at 77°F under recommended conditions.
≈ 48 HoursConservative planning target before vehicle traffic; allow longer if conditions require it.
Do not judge cure only by surface feel. Avoid vehicle traffic, hot tires, standing water and aggressive chemical cleaning until the coating has developed sufficient cure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers before the floor installation begins

The FAQ content below is also included as matching FAQPage structured data at the end of this HTML block.

Is this polyaspartic top coat UV resistant?

Yes. UltraShield uses a UV-stable formulation designed to help resist yellowing and maintain clarity in compatible indoor and outdoor floor systems.

Can UltraShield be applied directly to bare concrete?

UltraShield is intended primarily as the final clear protective layer. For a new floor system, bare concrete should be properly prepared and coated with a compatible epoxy primer before the decorative or base coat and the final polyaspartic top coat.

How much area does one 2-gallon kit cover?

One kit covers approximately 240–360 square feet over textured decorative flake floors or approximately 400–500 square feet over smoother metallic and solid-color floors. Actual coverage varies with texture, porosity, application method and thickness.

How long does UltraShield take to cure?

Published initial cure is approximately 5–7 hours and full cure is approximately 24–48 hours at 77°F. Plan for approximately 48 hours before vehicle traffic, and allow additional time when cooler, humid or thick-application conditions slow the cure.

Can this polyaspartic top coat be used outdoors?

Yes. Its UV-stable formulation is designed for compatible indoor and outdoor floor systems, including properly prepared patios and other exterior coating applications.

Is UltraShield suitable for garage floors?

Yes. The clear high-gloss finish, fast cure, abrasion resistance and hot-tire resistance make it suitable as the final protective layer over a correctly prepared garage floor coating system.

Can polyaspartic be applied over an existing epoxy floor?

Yes, provided the epoxy is fully bonded, clean, dry and compatible. Apply inside the recommended recoat window when possible. Fully cured epoxy should be mechanically abraded to a uniform dull profile, then thoroughly cleaned before recoating.

Should Part A and Part B be measured by weight or volume?

The current UltraShield Technical Data Sheet specifies a 1A:1B ratio by weight. Use a digital scale, measure accurately and do not estimate the ratio.

Can a high-gloss polyaspartic floor be slippery when wet?

Yes. Like other smooth, nonporous high-gloss coatings, the finished floor may be slippery when wet. Use a compatible anti-slip additive and an appropriate texture plan in areas exposed to water or slip hazards.

How can roller marks and lap lines be reduced?

Stage the tools and crew before mixing, work in planned sections, maintain a wet edge, avoid puddling and excessive rolling, and only mix the amount that can be applied promptly within the available working time.

Clear Finish. Fast Cure. Lasting Protection.

Use the coverage calculator before purchasing, confirm the current application instructions before mixing and plan the crew around the faster polyaspartic working window.
