Formula & Rule of Thumb

The standard coverage rule for Pourla UltraShield Polyaspartic is 120 to 180 sq.ft. per gallon over a Flake Floor, and 200 to 250 sq.ft. per gallon over a Metallic Floor. Because polyaspartic is sold in 2-Gallon Kits (1 Part A : 1 Part B), a single kit will comfortably cover a standard 1-car garage flake floor (approx. 240-360 sq.ft).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a flake floor need more polyaspartic?

Flake floors have a highly textured and porous surface. The polyaspartic top coat needs to fill the gaps between the vinyl chips to "lock" them in and create a smooth, cleanable surface. Therefore, the spread rate drops to 120-180 sq.ft./gallon, compared to 200-250 sq.ft./gallon over a smooth metallic epoxy base.

How long do I have to roll the polyaspartic?

You have approximately 30 to 50 minutes of working time at 77°F. Polyaspartic cures much faster than traditional epoxy. We highly recommend only mixing what you can comfortably apply within 30 minutes, and having a dedicated team member mixing while another rolls.

When can I park my car on it?

Unlike standard coatings with long downtime, Pourla Polyaspartic is walkable (initial cure) in as little as 5-7 hours. However, for heavy vehicle traffic and to prevent hot tire pickup, you must wait 24 to 48 hours for the chemical cross-linking to reach full cure.
