Coverage & Kit Size Rules

Both Pourla epoxy systems use a strict 2A:1B mix ratio, but they are measured and sold differently. Moisture Seal Primer is mixed by weight, covers 150-200 sq.ft. per gallon, and is sold in 1.5-Gallon Kits. The Floor Topcoat is mixed by volume, is applied thicker (100-120 sq.ft/gal), and is sold in 3-Gallon Kits.

Warning: The cure of epoxy is an exothermic reaction and will generate heat. Do not mix more than you can apply within the working time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Primer mixed by weight but the Topcoat by volume?

This is a critical chemistry requirement. Our Moisture Seal Primer requires precise hardener cross-linking to block vapor pressure, which is most accurately measured on a digital scale (By Weight). The High-Build Topcoat is formulated with slightly different resin densities designed for easier bucket-to-bucket measuring on job sites (By Volume). Always follow the specific mix instructions on your product's label to prevent curing failures.

Why do the Primer and Topcoat have different coverage rates?

The Moisture Seal Primer is thinner and designed to penetrate deep into the open concrete pores to block vapor and outgassing. Because it soaks in, it spreads further (150-200 sq.ft/gal). The Topcoat is a "high-build" coating designed to sit on top of the primer, creating a thick, protective wear layer, which reduces its spread rate to 100-120 sq.ft/gal.

Can I mix the whole kit at once?

We do not recommend mixing an entire kit at once unless you are highly experienced with large-area applications and have a team ready to spread it immediately. Epoxy generates intense heat (exothermic reaction) in the bucket. For the Topcoat, you only have about 25 minutes of working time at 77°F.
