Deep Pour Resin Essentials: A Guide for Perfect Castings
Pouring thick layers requires a completely different approach than standard coating resins. Follow these professional guidelines to ensure a flawless, bubble-free, and strong deep pour.
1. Temperature & Environment Control
- Deep pour resin is highly sensitive to ambient temperature. Keep your workspace exactly between 70°F - 80°F (21°C - 26°C).
- A warmer room will cause the resin to cure too fast and overheat; a colder room will stop the curing process.
2. Sealing the Wood (Crucial Step)
- Wood is porous and will release millions of bubbles into your deep pour if not sealed.
- Always apply a thin seal coat of our Art/Coating Epoxy to the raw edges of your wood and let it dry before your deep pour.
3. Proper 2:1 Mixing Ratio
- Measure strictly 2 parts Resin (A) to 1 part Hardener (B) by volume.
- Stir slowly for at least 5-7 minutes. Scrape the sides and bottom. Transfer to a second clean bucket and mix again to guarantee no unmixed resin ruins your project.
