HI FRIENDS, I AM TONY, THE CO-FOUNDER OF POURLA EPOXY. IN THIS BLOG, I WILL SHARE THE WHOLE PROCESS OF TURNING A Olivewood Cookie INTO A COFFEE TABLE USING THE POURLA DEEP POUR EPOXY

Olivewood cookie is known for its unique shapes, making it the perfect choice for pouring epoxy resin into all the gaps.

STEP 1: CLEAN UP!

Clean the wood with chisels and wire brushes, making sure the bark and dust debris are all removed. Due to the shape of the wood, there are ALOT of bark to clean up. This process took me over 2 hours!

Step 2: Mixing POURLA Deep Pour Epoxy

Since this piece is 3  inches thick, I will be using POURLA Deep Pour Epoxy, which is capable of pouring up to 4 inches at once.

POURLA Deep Pour Epoxy has a 2:1 mix ratio. After mixing 2A to 1B, I added metallic  forest green and pigment to the epoxy. To make the final result more shining, I also added a small amount of white metallic pigment.

Step 3: Time to POUR!

Since POURLA Epoxy Deep Pour can pour up the 4’’ thick at once, I can cover the whole thickness of the olivewood cookie at once, saving me a lot of time.

Step 4: Demold and Flattening

After 3 days, the POURLA Deep Pour Epoxy is fully cured and can be demolded. Then, I used my CNC machine to flatten it. If you are doing something like this, and you don't have a CNC, I highly recommend calling local cabinet shops to see if they can do it for you.

Then, I used a circle cutting jig and a router to make a perfect circle. Make sure to take multiple passes.

Step 5: Sanding and Polishing

We all know sanding isn’t fun, and sanding epoxy is so much worse. But to have the perfect finish, you have to sand meticulously, from 80-600 grit.

After sanding, I also used automotive polishing components to further refine the finish.

After all that work, I can finally apply the finish. For this project, I chose a hardwax oil.
